15/06/18, 15:30
Jeremy Chardy and Matthew Ebden have reached the semi-finals of the Libéma Open.
Chardy defeated wildcard player Mackenzie McDonald in an exciting three setter: 6-4 4-6 7-6(5). The 31-year-old Frenchman feels at home on the grass court. The world’s number 72 won the title at the Challenger tournament of Subiton last week and is undefeated in 8 matches in a row to date.
To reach the final, Chardy has to beat Ebden. The Australian was too strong for Marius Copil, 6-3 6-3.
Previously the 30-year-old Ebden surprised everybody when he defeated title defender Gilles Muller in two sets.
The semi-final between Chardy and Ebden is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
