LO 2019 – Libéma Open leader in sustainability
13/06/19, 19:46 | More on: Green Key, Libema Open, Marcel HunzeLibéma Open has been awarded a ‘golden etiquette’ by the international certification Green Key. The international tennis tournament for both men and women is now the leading Dutch sport event in the field of sustainability.
Two representatives of Green Key were present at the Autotron for an audit. The tournament and location were tested on 11 criteria including how the event handles energy, water, waste, mobility, food and drinks.
Libéma Open’s especially scored amply sufficient on the energy-use. The players are transported with electric cars and golf carts on the site. In addition the event has solar panels on the parking and for most lighting LED-lights are used.
Tournament director Marcel Huns is proud to receive this golden qualification from Green Key. “It is a great recognition, it proves we are on the right track. It is our ambition to be climate-neutral in five years time. We want to distinguish ourselves by being the ‘Greenest show on the Tour’.”
